Taking a walk around your garden is such a simple, yet thrilling, experience for kitty. This is something I often do with my feline friends, as well as my furbabies, & they absolutely love it!
It can be particularly pleasurable for those who may be a little nervous & do not go outside very often. They feel so much more comfortable with the presence of a familiar in close proximity.
Take a 10-15 minute walk around your garden, observing & interacting with nature.
If you have catnip, silver-vine or valerian growing, pinch a little & extend this to your feline for some sensory enrichment. Brush a hand across your rosemary, mint &/or any feline-friendly fragrant herbs, to reignite their luscious scent.
There is no lack of fallen leaves & dry, broken twigs at this time of year, so get creative & turn them into objects for a little playful enrichment, rustle them through the bushes or throw them across the lawn.
You can take a teaser toy out with you {like a feathered wand} mimicking that of their favourite prey & encouraging exercise. Keeping your feline active throughout the day is a great way to keep them stimulated; mentally & physically healthy, & they’ll have no trouble sleeping on your schedule by the end of a productive day.
With our first weekend in lockdown, there’s no excuse not to spend quality time with your kitty. As a bonus, the best pictures are taken in natural daylight, so seize opportunity to capture the adventure with your little lion in action - tag me @the.wingless.bird & share your experience!
