Remember, Remember... Your Feline Doesn't Like 5th November

Updated: Jan 8, 2021

As caring & responsible parents it is important to recognise signs of fear & distress in our little lions.

This can be seen in the following ways;

• Flinching

• Running from sudden sounds/movement

• Raised fur on an arched back

• Curling up to appear small

• Enlarged pupils

• Inappropriate elimination

• Excessive grooming/plucking of fur

• Excessive vocalization

• Hissing

• Refusal to eat

These signs can be commonly seen throughout November -{firework season}- as 50% of cats & dogs suffer from firework stress.

Statistically more cats & dogs are reported to go missing on Bonfire Night than any other night in the year.

This is why it is so important to always have proper identification tags, with up-to-date contact information. Microchipping is strongly recommended.

Prepping your little lions for a stress-free evening by letting them out earlier in the day, calling them back for sunset & keeping them housebound for the rest of the night is a really good habit to have all-year round. Secure doors & windows, close the curtains & give them easy access to a hiding place. Alternatively, your little lion might just prefer to get snuggled up with you. Play some music, watch Netflix together, provide some form of sound to drown out that of the entertainment taking place outside. Animals sense stress & anxiety so stay calm & they will feed off of your energy.
